Your generosity supports River Valley Artists Guild, Inc.'s mission to encourage and promote awareness and appreciation of the creative arts for both it's members and the community; promote and provide networking opportunities; encourage art education for children, adults, and seniors; and develop the natural abilities of it's members in all artistic endeavors. Our primary objective is to raise funds for awards, grants, scholarships, and art supplies for

art students and teachers in the Colorado River Valley area.

Recipients of Grants:

“Color and Art”

Mohave Valley Jr Hi. Age 11-14, 300 students. Students will create amultitude of color theory based projects to demonstrate knowledge of color theory, and its importance in art. They will be using a variety of materials. They will also be creating3d pop art. Projects will be on display in the classroom, social media, and at upcomingschool events. Need brushes, markers colored pencils packing tape, drawing paper,water color paper, background paper, glue sticks, sharpies, cotton balls, pencils. $600

“Painting Stones”

Topock Elementary. Age 4-10, 110 students. Painting rocks to brighten up the school. Constructive learning, fine motor skills, expressing creativity, sharing, and reducing stress. Need XL Rocks (Rainforest Tahiti green beach pebbles river rock), Gesso, paintbrushes, Posca Pens (classic, multicolor, fluorescent, glitter…), 3D paint, spray varnish. Projects will be displayed in the garden area surrounding the chicken coop or possibly in front of the school; displayed on social media for parents and community. $600

“Stay Gold Ponyboy”

Desert Star Middle School. Age 6th, 7th, 8thgrade, 115 students. After reading Outsiders, students will paint a golden sunset. This ties into the book and the poem. Need to paint canvas panels. Paintings will be displayed at the college art show, other school shows. $300

“Can You Draw That?”

Desert Star Middle School. Age 6th, 7th, 8thgrade, 115 students. Students will use products to work on drawing skills. By understanding how basic shapes make up the whole they can have a better understanding of math. Need drawing books and pencils. The Project will be displayed at college art show, other school shows. $300

“Into the Woods”

Full version musical. Mohave High School. Age 14-18, 28 students. Need supplies to build two spiral staircases resembling tree trunks, and Rapunzel’s castle, and costumes. Building and decorating sets will give students skills they can use in everyday life, from being reliable to using their art skills and working with their hands to working as a team to complete multiple projects by a deadline. Will foster pride in that their work will be appreciated by the audiences of staff, parents, students, and the community, each night of the 4 performances, and could foster deeper interest in the arts. Need foam, wood, screws, wheels, fabric, paint, thread, paint brushes, spray foam and costumes. $600

“Bringing the World of Dr Seuss to Life”

Desert Star Academy Age: grades 4th through 10th , about 50 students. Production and performances of Seussical the Musical. We need costumes that will be made with hats, feathers, gloves, etc., to represent Cat in the Hat characters. These items will be purchased through affordable sources like Amazon and Goodwill. Students will develop skills such as public speaking, collaboration, time management, and problem-solving within an immersive, supportive, and creative environment. The show themes include inclusion, imagination, perseverance, and developing confidence and empathy $600

“Elevating Performance Excellence”

Desert Star Academy Age 5th-10th grades, 100 students. Seeking to upgrade theater and choir lighting and sound equipment: replace worn cables, add wireless microphones, mixing board, lighting board, sound splitter, and hum eliminator. Will provide students with professional-grade equipment, enhance audience experience thus strengthening community ties, and level the playing field for students by offering the same resources as larger or better-funded schools. $600

“Help us Give Nemo a Home”.

MALC Age level 3-12, number of students 45. Stagecraft class is designing and painting the backgrounds for their spring musical, Finding Nemo, Jr. Need 8 sheets of plywood, paint, and brushes. Stagecraft is a career and technical class, teaching vital skills to work in stage settings. Sets help actors complete the scene. The musical will be performed for the school and the community on Feb 28, and March 1, 2025. $600

“Expanding The DSMS/HS Band Program”

Desert Star Academy. Grades Freshman – Sophomore, 20-30 students; expanding to other grades next year. Need two trombones with cases and cleaning materials, and assorted instrument instruction books. Will be featured in campus events, performances, and public performances for students, families, and the community. $600

“Robot/Art”

Camp Mohave Elementary. Age 9-11, number of students 21. Each student will construct a “wiggle bot” using a solo cup, electrical tape, a battery holder, a small DC motor, and 2 AAA batteries. The robot will have 3 markers attached to the bottom, and the vibration from the motor will drive the bot around on a piece of paper to create an art piece. The project will demonstrate how the fields of technology, engineering, and art can intersect, overlap, and complement each other. Projects will be on display in school discovery den and demonstrated to student’s class. $200
